Conventions & Treks

“The SUP holds a national convention in the late summer or Fall of each year. The sponsor is an SUP chapter in the host city. For three days, officers, members and their wives enjoy visiting historic sites, hearing from experts in Pioneer history and the fellowship of others. Great meals and entertainment add spice to every event.

While the ladies meet together in a special program, voting delegates chosen from each chapter consider business matters of the Society and choose a national president-elect for the coming calendar year. The new president-elect will serve one year in that office, then become national president for the following year. After completing his one year term as president, a final year follows, as a member of the three-man National Executive Council, where he serves as past-president of the national society. He chairs the Past Presidents’ Council, which is composed of all the past national presidents, so long as they are active.

The next national conventions are scheduled as follows:

Richfield, Utah: September 25-27, 2008

TAKE A TREK!

Families and SUP chapter members enjoy going places! With your SUP chapter, or perhaps just with your own family, visit some places of historic interest near where you live, and help your children and others around you learn about the Pioneer past. We are admonished in the scriptures to REMEMBER! This is a good way to fulfill that admonition!

SUP members and Friends of SUP are invited to join an American Heritage National Trek from May 7-17, 2008.

Visits will include Jamestown , Colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown , Monticello , Mt. Vernon, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, Lexington, Concord, and Boston.  The cost per person of $1,865 includes airfare from Salt Lake City , motor coach, motels and some meals.  For information, contact Dee Risenmay at BYU-Idaho Travel Study, phone 208-496-2337 or deelr36@msn.com
